Arnold Press: How to Do It and What Muscles It Works

How to Do the Arnold Press

  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, or sit upright on a bench.
  • Hold the dumbbells at chest level with your palms facing your body, elbows close to your torso.
  • As you press the dumbbells overhead, rotate your wrists so that your palms face forward at the top of the movement.
  • Fully extend your arms above your head with palms facing forward.
  • Lower the dumbbells with control, rotating your wrists back to the starting position with palms facing your face.

What Muscles Does It Work?

  • Anterior Deltoid (Front Shoulder)
  • Lateral Deltoid (Side Shoulder)
  • Posterior Deltoid (Rear Shoulder)
